Our first speaker is Khatereh Khodavirdi, the VP of Consumer, Global Growth & Enterprise for Data Science, Analytics & AI Products at PayPal. She began her journey at eBay, where she helped establish the first-party advertising department, scaling it to a billion-dollar business. At PayPal, she has held various leadership roles, driving data science and analytics initiatives across multiple domains, including revenue operations, global SMB, and consumer business.
Khatereh oversees a comprehensive data science and ML team focusing on personalization, marketing data science, and consumer insights. In addition to her role at PayPal, she is an instructor at Stanford University and a board member and advisor at StartX.
Meet Philip Denkabe, the Head of Data Science at Chime. Since joining Chime in December of last year, Philip has been pivotal in rapidly building and scaling the data science team. His role encompasses constructing a robust team, devising strategic focus areas, and leading innovative research to uplift Chime’s business. Under his leadership, the team aims to develop several types of data science models spanning generative AI and non-generative AI models.
Philip’s buy versus build decision approach is guided by the need for speed, cost- effectiveness, and leveraging advanced capabilities from major cloud providers. His focus on customization ensures that the data science solutions are uniquely tailored to Chime’s specific business requirements, providing a competitive edge in the financial sector. Philip also emphasizes compliance with data security and model explainability standards while operating within a regulated environment.
Our third speaker is Kartik Khanna, Gusto's Head of Machine Learning & AI. Kartik is a seasoned expert in applied NLP with over 15 years of experience in healthcare, property casualty insurance, and fintech. He has built and led ML teams focused on risk, fraud detection, and data extraction. Currently, he leads Gusto’s Generative AI strategy and initiatives across the enterprise, emphasizing customer-facing applications and operational efficiency.
Kartik Khanna will share his invaluable insights on the strategic considerations of buying versus building evaluation platforms in the rapidly evolving landscape of Generative AI.
